Announcing: Presenters for State of Formation Workshop at the AAR/SBL AND Interviewing Eboo Patel

State of Formation Workshop:
Writing for the Online Public Sphere
November 22, 2014 | 2-4PM | Room: Omni Gaslamp 1 |675 L St., San Diego, CA 92101

With the American Academy of Religion conference only a month away, we have one final update about the presenters.  In addition to John Grim, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Studies and Ethics at Yale,we are excited to announce that we will be hearing from Mark Oppenheimer, Religion writer for The New York Times.  We are thrilled to have both of these excellent speakers share their wisdom on writing about religion and the environment online.

We are also excited to announce the three outstanding Contributing Scholars who will be presenting at the workshop:

Mark James

Haley Feuerbacher

Katelynn Carver

Congratulations to them, and we look forward to an enriching workshop!

We are offering one more way for Contributing Scholars to be involved at the AAR Annual Meeting, and to represent State of Formation. One Scholar will be chosen to sit down with Eboo Patel for a face to face interview on Monday, November 24th during the conference.  The interview will then be published by State of Formation as well as other partner publications, including IFYC and the the Religion section of The Huffington Post. If you are interested in conducting this interview, please submit a brief explanation of what you would hope to learn from a conversation with Eboo Patel, as well as 3-5 sample questions you would ask during the interview. Submissions should be send to Ben (ben@irdialogue.org) and Esther (esther@irdialogue.org) no later than Friday, November 6th. Contestants should already be planning to attend the Annual Meeting, as we can only offer a small stipend of $100 for the selected interviewer.

We look forward to seeing many of you in San Diego next month!
