Daniel F. Flores

Reverend Dr. Daniel F. Flores is a third-generation Mexican-American and the son of a migrant worker. While studying at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, he cross-enrolled in the first Pentecostalism-Liberation course offered at Harvard Divinity School and a graduate course in Mishnah at Hebrew College. These two ecumenical experiences influenced him to live out his calling as an ecumenically-minded believer. He earned an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Ph.D. in American Religion and Culture at Drew University, and an MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. He credits his wife, a college instructor in World Religions and MAR (Hebrew Bible) graduate of Yale University Divinity School, for teaching him the value and necessity of nurturing interfaith relations. Dr. Flores is an active member of the Oxford Institute for Methodist Theological Studies. He is currently the Director of the Cook Library and Associate Professor at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He and his wife Thelma are both ordained United Methodist clergy.

State of Formation, founded as an offshoot of the Journal of Interreligious Studies (JIRS), is a program of the Betty Ann Greenbaum Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership at Hebrew College and Boston University School of Theology.
