State of Formation Workshop:
Writing for the Online Public Sphere
November 22, 2014 | 2-4PM | Room: Omni Gaslamp 1 |675 L St., San Diego, CA 92101

At the 2014 AAR & SBL Annual Meeting, State of Formation will host a workshop for new and potential Contributing Scholars, featuring between 2-3 Outstanding Contributing Scholars who post exemplary content on the State of Formation site. This workshop will serve as an excellent networking session to begin to navigate the AAR/SBL Meeting in San Diego, California.

Would you like to be featured as an Outstanding Contributing Scholar? Those who are featured will also be given the opportunity to present during the conference workshop.

If you are interested, please submit an article on State of Formation between September 1st and October 10th that reflects on a current event and incorporates your personal perspective and faith/ethical tradition. Please also send Ben (ben@irdialogue.org) and Esther (esther@irdialogue.org) an email with the title of the post you want to submit for consideration no later than October 10th. We are only able to offer a small travel stipend of $100; therefore those who want to present at the workshop should already be planning to attend AAR/SBL.

On attending Contributing Scholar will also have the chance to interview Dr. Diana Eck for a featured State of Formation post. Details regarding the interview and selection process for the interviewer will be shared soon.

Held in conjunction with the annual meeting for the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature, State of Formation is pleased to announce it will host a workshop for current and emerging religious and ethical leaders. State of Formation, a project of CIRCLE at Andover Newton Theological School and Hebrew College, is an online forum for emerging religious and ethical leaders.

The workshop will feature Paul Raushenbush, Mary Evelyn Tucker, Rabbi Or Rose, Dr. Jennifer Peace, and top Contributing Scholars from State of Formation. Also helping to lead the workshop is Stepanie Varnon-Hughes (Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Inter-Religous Dialogue).

If you are committed to interreligious understanding and in making your voice heard in a virtual public square with over 150,000 annual readers, join us for this interactive workshop. Both current and prospective Contributing Scholars are welcome to attend. At the workshop, you can engage in conversation with contributors of State of Formation, current featured bloggers, and a panel of professionals who are providing quality content about religion in the online environment.
